Meet Our Authors (so far)

Allison K. Hymas was born on the anniversary of the day Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly nonstop and solo across the Atlantic. She was born in Utah, raised in Virginia and Pennsylvania, where she enjoyed spending time in the mountains and forests. Allison is also the author of Under Locker and Key and Arts and Thefts. She currently lives in Springville, UT, where she teaches writing, visits national parks, and runs very long distances for fun.

Dan Haring is from the tiny town of Goshen, Utah. He’s a Middle Grade author whose first novel, THE STAR SHEPHERD, which he illustrated and co-wrote with Marcykate Connolly, came out in 2019. When he’s not writing, Dan is a visual effects and animation artist, who has worked on films such as Tangled, The Lion King 3D, The Incredible Hulk, and Rio 2. He is currently helping create new worlds in virtual reality at Strange Reptile. He loves comic books, especially Batman. He lives in Utah with his awesome wife and kids.

Lindsey Leavitt is the author of over a dozen books for children, tweens, and teens, many of which have appeared on lists like YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults, Amazon’s Best Books of the Year, Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year, and Kid’s Indies Next List. She is a former elementary school teacher and present-day writer/mom/speaker/party animal. Her tween titles include: SEAN GRISWOLD’S HEAD, GOING VINTAGE, THE PAGES BETWEEN US series, and the PRINCESS FOR HIRE series.

Christian McKay Heidicker reads and writes and drinks tea. Between his demon-hunting cat and his fiddling, red-headed fiancée, he feels completely protected from evil spirits. Christian is the author of the Newbery Honor-winning Scary Stories for Young Foxes, Thieves of Weirdwood, Cure for the Common Universe, and Attack of the 50 Foot Wallflower. He lives in Salt Lake City, Utah

Liesl Shurtliff is the New York Times bestselling author of the (Fairly) True Tales series and the Time Castaways series. Her books have been named several state award lists and have won many awards including a Children’s Book Award from the International Literacy Association. A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Liesl has called Chicago home for fifteen years. She and her husband have four children who have inspired many characters in Liesl’s books, both hero and villain.

Sofiya Pasternack is an author and nurse whose fondest childhood memories involve her pet goats wrecking up the house. Her debut middle grade fantasy, ANYA AND THE DRAGON, was awarded the Sydney Taylor Book Award Honor for Middle Grade. The sequel, ANYA AND THE NIGHTINGALE, will be out November 10th, 2020.
